9/16– In the mood for a good mystery thriller? Visit Centuries & Sleuths Bookstore in Forest Park (7419 W. Madison Street, Chicago, IL) on Sunday, September 16 to meet Chicago authors Frances McNamara and David J. Walker. You have the chance to have Frances McNamara sign, Death at Woods Hole, the most recent book in her Emily Cabot series, and David J. Walker sign Company Orders, his most recent book.

9/20– If you’ve enjoyed Michael Chabon’s previous novels, this is your chance to hear the acclaimed, Pulitzer-winning author read from his recently released book, Telegraph Avenue. Michael Chabon will be at the Winnetka Community House (620 Lincoln Ave., Winnetka, IL) at 7pm on Thursday, September 20, so escape from the city for a couple of hours to be wowed by his work. This opportunity is surely reason enough to make the trek to the suburbs!

9/20– Author Emma Straub will be reading from her first novel, Laura Lamont’s Life in Pictures, Thursday, September 20 at 6pm at 57th Street Books in Hyde Park (1301 E. 57th St., Chicago, IL). Emma Straub’s fiction and non-fiction work has also appeared in publications such as The New York Times, Vogue, and The Paris Review Daily. She has also published a collection of short-stories, Other People We Married.

9/20– Celebrated American poet Lucille Clifton will be remembered at the Poetry Foundation (61 W. Superior, Chicago, IL) in a tribute to her work on Thursday, September 20 at 7pm. Don’t miss the chance to see this group of poets — including Michael S. Glaser, Li-Young Li, Elise Paschen, and Kevin Young — perform Lucille Clifton’s moving poetry.
