Most importantly, we are looking for quality work–writing that is unique, interesting, and well-done. Writing that touches the soul. Writing that surprises us. It doesn’t matter if or where you’ve been published before, whether or not you have an agent, whether you’ve earned an MFA from a prestigious university or have only ever written in the middle of the night with your restaurant apron still around your waist. Quality is what matters.
However, we generally do NOT publish: horror, science fiction, thrillers, cookbooks, self-help books, or books dealing with anything supernatural. Which means: do not send us manuscripts about teenage vampires, werewolves, or angels. We also do not publish young adult/children’s books (other than classics). And please make sure to edit your manuscript thoroughly before sending it here. If you don’t care enough about your work to make sure it is free of egregious typos and grammar errors why should we?
If we haven’t deterred you with our pickiness, please send to us the first three or four consecutive chapters of your book, along with a one-page synopsis and short bio. Make sure to include a SASE. We will try to get back to you in 1-3 months, however, we are a bit backed up with manuscripts currently, so it may take longer. There are only a few of us, and we are working as fast as we can.
Best wishes,
The Editors
